I have a FX8350. I'm thinking of getting the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB DDR5. I heard somewhere that this card is too powerful for 8350 and it'll bottleneck. Is it true? How do the FX8350 and 7970 perform when paired together?

Not exactly does fx 8350 bottleneck hd 7970. If i were you i would rather overclock it to avoid any bottlenecks or watsoevers.

Buddy, I think you are referring to the Toms hardware review where they have tested Graphics card scalability with top CPUs from Intel and AMD, namely i7 3770K and FX-8350. Well, then read it again, that test was to check Crossfire ( 2 HD 7970 in CF) and SLI (two GTX 680 in SLI) Scalability, not single GPU. There is no noticeable bottleneck here.
