flv to what?

hi all,
i just downloaded some videos from youtube.com and they all are in flv, now i want to convert them to some other format which have a better video and audio quality so my question are...
1: which format will give best video and audio quality??
2: any freeware for doing above task with ease and low on system?
3: how much quality of video and audio i can improve by converting from flv to some other format?

Use keepvid.com to d/l video it give link to d/l high quality video..!!

Conversion leads to quality loss but as I provided the site download from there it will upgrade quality belief...
