After connecting to the INTERNET none of the website opens. I called my ISP technical person to solve the problem, what he noticed was when the firewall is switch off everything worked fine but when activated again, I was not able to browse anyother website.

I found a solution to this by myself by switching off the firewall before connecting to Internet and then switching it on again. Does anyone have any idea why is it happening.

I used Outpost firewall before this and i was'nt able to open any of the website until i switch off my firewall.

Currently using Zonealarm Pro 6.0.67 with windows xp with sp2, Opera 8.02 for browsing the net
please help

Then ur windows firewall may block the connection

to overcome just to for opera.firefox,etc.(Adding an exception )

You must be logged on to this computer as an administrator to complete this procedure.

Open Windows Firewall.
On the Exceptions tab, under Programs and Services, select the check box for the program or service that you want to allow, and then click OK.
If the program (or service) that you want to allow is not listed:

Click Add Program.
In the Add a Program dialog box, click the program that you want to add, and then click OK. The program will appear, selected, on the Exceptions tab, under Programs and Services.
Click OK.
If the program (or service) that you want to allow is not listed in the Add a Program dialog box:

In the Add a Program dialog box, click Browse, locate the program that you want to add, and then double-click it. (Programs are usually stored in the Program Files folder on your computer.) The program will appear under Programs, in the Add a Program dialog box.
Click OK. The program will appear, selected, on the Exceptions tab, under Programs and Services.
Click OK.
If you still do not find the program, you can open a port instead. A port is like a small door in the firewall that allows communications to pass through. To specify which port to open, on the Exceptions tab, click Add Port. (When you open a port, remember to close it again when you are done using it.)

Adding an exception is preferable to opening a port because:

It is easier to do.
You do not need to know which port number to use.
Adding an exception helps provide security, because the firewall is only open while the program is waiting to receive the connection.

After doing this if ZONE ALARM asks opera, firefox for outpost connection just permit.

theraven

Technomancer
outpost was causing the problems
zonealarm isnt
is that correct ?
then the problem is with permissions for outpost

jsut stick to ZAP anyways its the best ...that is IF it isnt causing the problem too

I know what u'r thinking. but the new version of zonealarm has fixed all the problems that it used to create before.
Outpost firewall is a very good one but i tested it for myself and i could solve it.

Ok try this:

Go to controlpanel in that go to windows firewall in exception tab select add a program and then browse and select the the program u want to allow for outpost connection.

Note:eek:utpost mean permiting the certain program to
access the internet and it not mean outpost
firewall software.
