fdc.sys

I installed windows xp professional on my pc
configuration
p4 1.6
256 mb ddr ram
40gb harddisk

while installing winxp i had to skip a file called fdc.sys
the rest of the process was smooth
and even it loads
now i face 2 problems


the windows xp professional loads very slowly takes about 80 sec to load
i have 2 user accounts for xp
the other problem is the floppy device is not detected

this winxp is installed in partition d:
i have another operating system windows 98 second edition and it takes 5 sec to load it is loaded in c:
plz help me

1st of all well come to the forum....

the other problem is the floppy device is not detected

well the fdc.sys is the floppy disk contorler system file.... so u can get it from here.... & place the file \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\ on that dir....

now there is lods of thread regarding the slow boot proces... just use the Search option to find them & impliment the suggetions...
