High without substance...
I have posted this issue in the chit chat section and i am asking the same here hoping the problem will be solved.

The thing is that i have two HDD's and one DVD writer. Now my motherboard has only one IDE slot so i can have any of the 2 working at a time.

so i went and got my self a external case for one of my HDD.
the one which is connected internally to a DVD writer is by the one and only IDE connector.
The operating system is installed in the internal HDD.
Now that my other HDD is in a case out side, the problem is that my pc does not show that HDD(external). though when i connect it shows and reads as mass storage along with the HDD's serial number, it is also shown in device manager with the serial number and "2Q USB". Now the problem is that i am not able to see that under my computer section nor under disk management.

The other problem is that when i switch on the externall HDD before windows's boots the pc hangs.
the boot prefrence is HDD followd by CD-Rom.

what do i do?
my mother board is MSI's K9MM-V.
thank you in advance.

i think you got to update your MBR.. please download seagate DM or samsung Dm as per your HDD make.. if you cant get then please tell here,, i can post you the links..

now.. just remove your External HDD from case and plug it in your comp. internally.. backup any data on it.. now Re-partition the HDD.. and keep it a side.. now plug your second HDD in the case.. just to check that your case is working fine... if now the HDD works fine then plug the HDD which you kept aside and try again without plugging the internal HDD.. if it works now.. then its fine.. now try both of them... if it works now then its ok.. other wise repost here.. with the update... :p

1) Update your mass storage driver via device manager (use windows update site as a source)
2) In bios setup disable booting from other devices and/or usb
