Excalibur not working with mobo 3-pin connector

I have a CM Excalibur 120mm fan. It has a 4-pin to 3-pin adaptor. I cant get it working with ASUS M3A78-EM's 3-pin controllers ?? It works with molex adapter.

What's the problem ? do any one know.
