The name of the device is still in question as part of a legal controversy, but Apple's tentatively titled iPhone has already attracted the world's largest video game publisher, as Electronic Arts has announced initial plans to work on developing games for the new handset, reports Business Week

EA senior vice president Mitch Lasky said that talks have already begun with Apple about producing exclusive content for the new phone, which was first unveiled at the Macworld Expo last month.

So, as I was saying there will be third party applications for the iPhone but they'll be tightly controlled by Apple.
BTW, the iPhone's multi-touch interface combined with the advanced sensors make for rather exciting gaming possibilities, don't they?

EA's Disclaimer will be - "Too much game involment can Damage the Multi-Touch Interface":D

Guys like that better stick to keypad thingy, atleast it can be replaced at less expense:D

Why does EA wanna conquer every paltform, why the heck dont they concentrate on a Worthy Game:D:D:D instead:D

EDITED:::

"Apple (AAPL) has shown a new openness to gaming by introducing a spate of titles for its iPod digital music players. The company tapped several game publishers, including Electronic Arts (ERTS) and Namco, to deliver a selection of casual games. Titles include classics such as Tetris and Pac-Man, updates of old staples like the Arkanoid-inspired Vortex, and diversions with current pop-culture cachet like Sudoku and Texas Hold'em."
