Right off the assembly line
Hi,

I bought a new DVD drive, which is a Samsung SATA DVD writer drive.

I connected to my pc and I find that drive shows up correctly in the CMOS and while booting the DVD activity LED blinks.

But if I try to open the Drive with the eject button or through windows explorer ( right click -> eject ) it does not open.

If I do a double click on the drive it just shows a blank window. Is this a problem with the DVD drive. Do I need to take the drive to the service centre ?

I even tried changing the SATA data connector on the motherboard and tried changing the power cable connecting to the SMPS. But as it is getting detected in the CMOS I dont find a problem with all these and suspect an issue with the Drive. It is a new drive. Please let me know you views and inputs.

Regards
Karthigeyan

Looks like it has somekind of tray issue. Send it to the service center for replacement.
