In my desktop system, I have XP SP3. Since last few weeks, the system hangs during start up. Going to "safe mode" shows that "WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\aswRvrt.sys" file is not loading properly. Googling for possible solutions on the internet indicates possible infection, with elaborate cleaning methods, etc.
Renaming the file as aswRvrt.old or something doesn't help.
I am not able to understand infetion part, since I have Windows 7 in dual boot mode and I checked WinXP partition from outside. It doesn't find any infection.
What could be possible workaround? what is this driver for? If it is really infected, how to get a clean driver file?
