Downloading on Netbook , won't it stress it too much ?

I also once though that keeping the PC on 24x7 almost , the bills are coming high because of that. But the truth is the PC doesn;t really consume much if you consider other resources which use that much power uselessly [ like Lights and Fans in empty rooms ]

Taken from yahoo answers and Modifed
[ Keep Monitor Off ]
CPU - 300 Watt
If u keep it on for 1 hours it will consume 0.3 units

on average 1 unit costs Rs 4
Hence 0.3 units will cost = 0.3 x 4 = Rs 1.2

If You keep it on for 10 hours it will cost Rs.1.2 x 10 = Rs 12

Although maybe if you have 1000W that means it takes 1000W throughout ? I don;t know :( Still , less hassle than managing another system.

@arko what is your config.
I am using my laptop for downloading purpose, it goes good and is made for running long hours, it is core i5 based elitebook, power consumption is low, netbooks you are talking of would not be that good.
in long hours of run, I feel my good lappy vibrating on the HDD side, this kind of shock can be too much for netbooks.
what modder has suggested is ok, and suggested cabinet is very small, you can actually use it as stand for your monitor :p

otherwise yes using downloading router is good option.

Asus RT-N13U

But look for (in reviews/etc):

1. File system on the usb drive reqd.
if FAT32 -> You cannot create a file larger than (2^32)-1 bytes (this is one byte less than 4 GB) on a FAT32 partition / if Linux -> etc/see file sys. limits

2. Time reqd. for hash checks on torrents (as routers have slow proccy, it might take forever)

3. Custom firmware reqd.? -> Tomato/DD-WRT/etc

4. Restriction on no. of simultaneous downloads. Queuing possible?

5. Compatibility for the inbuilt torrent client with pvt. trackers, if reqd.?

Its not as easy as it looks. WHS using VNC/RDP is always a better option for starters and also theres NAS:

Built-in BitTorrent client is the global standard for accessing rich media over the Internet

IMO No need to buy all those things, if you have a 2-4mbps broadband [one from airtel costs 1399+tax] plan. Faster plans, lesser waiting times & but higher internet charges.

AFAIK, your electricty bill won't go beyond Rs. 300 [only with PC] if you download 24 hrs.

Finally Don't think your smps is always loaded & draws 1000w, its not like that. In your case its almost 550w under load & no overclock. Under no usage mode it will be lesser.

You can check your GTX 580's idle power consumptions.

If you using your mobile modem for all these purpose, then one answer "Forget it"

i am looking to get high internet speed but airtel is not present in my locality wereas bsnl charges Rs 2100 for 1 mbps plan.looking into cable bb services but not yet decided yet.When i was in bangalore i used airtels 4 mbps ul plan with 40 gb fup but evenif i crossed 80 gb speed was still 4 mbps:grin:

Secondly i know the bill isnt coming only for my pc but high bills especially 2k ones are blamed on me:-x without night downloading.So i need to buy a modem or take a higher internet connection(which my parents are objecting cause bsnl internet is free(my aunt works in the government so))

So i am favoring the router route to avoid meaningless arguments at home.

Are you sure the bill swings around Rs. 2000.00 ?? Max your pc can get you a bill of 350 -500, but not beyond than that.
If it is, then its not your PC which is the reason to be blamed. check for some other wattage killers[lesser stars on power savings] in your Home..like Refrigerators, A/C's, 100w bulbs, Water Pumps etc... etc.

Once again, your pc is not the reason, for the above.
