Does Windows Recognize All Video Formats???????????

Hi freinds i am back with some more questions. freind i want to really know that does windows recognize all video formats cause yesterday when i brought on rent from movie gallery (harry potter and the prizoner of azkaban a copied copy of the original cd )to see on my computer and when i clicked to open the disk windows displayed an error saying corrupted cd or windows cannot recognize the format . i played it on my both os win xp and win 98se and in all applications including wmp9,jet audio 6.5 pro,power dvd 4.0, but none was ready to open it, atl lat i gave up playing on my pc and shifted to my dvd player and too my suprise it played up ther . icould not belive it and the video quality was crystal clear there was no problem while playing the cd on my dvd player. i assure u there is no problem with my cd rom because it was able to play the pirated copy of veer zaara quiet well

and now i want to know that was there any software on that cd that disabled it from playing on my pc .is there any audio video format that this film used that windows cant recognize. does window dont have this format.is there any war or any software thatt i can get to enable the playing of that cd. or it was just bcause of the pirated copy. please send me ur suggestions quickly as posssible. thank u all.

Hey thesame happened to me when i was playing Two Weeks Notice.
but i tried it in my computer(i have Klite codec) it didnt run.
i tried it on my brother`s computer- it didnt run either. But i tried it on the DVD player. the movie was just fine. no hitches no scratches.May be it happens if the movie has got crystal clear quality)

this should not happen !
there might be some problem with your codecs fro example i recently directly turnet off the computer while using WMP and after restarting i found that the mp3 file was not being played !

1)give some codecs
2)get a good video player such as VLC


one question more did you tried to see the contents of the cd

does the dat file appeared onto the explorer
if yes then convert it




and for your query windows doesn't suport all the video codecs . you have to get it from internet !

The CD/DVD may be protected so that it may not be read on a computer and hence may not be copied................

Just rip the CD/DVD and get the file copied to your system. Do let me know if it cannot be copied...............

use virtual cd to create an image and change the region code as many times as you want

Well Basically it may happen if ur Region Code is set ..so u cant play the movie.....Or Codac Issue can also b ther .....Get the Ace Mega Codec Pack....an ALL in 1 Solution ...BTW to Rip DVD u need DVD Ripper ....try DVD Santa ..or Clone DVD etc

GSpot doesnt recognize the format that I have [asf].

hey expert no.1 i told u that windows does not open my cd at all so how can i open and configure its dat file and as for creating a virtual image of the cd i created it but it still did not played and meanwhile i dont know what is the region code u r talking about so can u please tell me wat it is and how to configure it .

As for khattam i tried to rip it through jet audio pro6.5, but it didnt open it as when i went to rip tab it start button did not played for the cd

And as for saroman i think ur reply sounds very useful so iwilll try installing ace on my system today. and sent u a reply.do u think it will work. and also can u tell me by which format is the video cd done with and r u sure that ace also have video codecs for cd audio video well do tell me this in ur next post. thank u

Someone in page 1 suggested to download VLC. VLC is a really crappy player, and even though it can support just about any format, it has many bugs, such as you need to turn off your screensaver everytime you use VLC, VLC does not have proper support for VOBSUB, FFDSHOW, etc. It might take at least 2 years for VLC to be a proper player. Right now i use Windows Media Player Classic

MPC has support FOR ANY CODEC. Hence, use google to search for your codec and play on MPC. It works gr8!

Installing the codec will not help. i had the same problem when i rented out movies. The cd will be empty when viewed or it will not let you access the contents of the drive. And as you mentioned it plays on a dvd player. I tried all codec's but in vain. But if installing the codec pack works for you then...Enjoy.

hi freinds i saw all ur reply and also for that spider man 2 movie i want to ask all of u that is there any software that can telll the video codec or format for the non resdable cd or is there any other way that i can know the codec or whatever so tht i can download that software or the video codec support to see the movie

and one more thing like ps emmulator is there any software that can play disk meant for dvd players and not on pc can be played on it. do continue to send ur suggestions
