can someone help me on this? ;

My dvd-rw drive (HP DVD Writer 640b 16x)(shipped with hp Pavilion PC) takes about 15-20 min to copy files from a CD-ROM to the HDD.

It was set to PIO mode in device manager. but the option selected was "DMA if Available". In the BIOS, the drive eas set to PIO 4 and UDMA 2. *my drive is compatible with UDMA 2* (checked it on the drive documentation from HP)

the setting in device manager JUST WONT CHANGE to UDMA2 (although it HAD a few months ago, after which i had reformatted due to some other reasen)

Please note that my HDD is under SATA I and UDMA 5

In this situation i fear whether it will perform well on writing dvd's or not.

Help!!!

(pls remove my previous post on the same subject. i couldnt post it yesterday(technical problem on website))

why isnt anyone replying?

In Pursuit of "Happyness"
Try un-installing the IDE channel to which the DVD writer is connected, and then reboot and try enabling DMA.
