2 days ago, the display on my monitor went bad.
when i started the computer, the display was all kind of corrupted. letters and patterns were here and there.

This to me seems like a problem with the onboard graphics controller. However, i m not sure.
I have Intel 845 chipset.

Earlier also, this problem had come, but by hitting a little on the cabinet side, the issue was resolved.
However, not this time.

If i press enter at the OS select page (which is all scrambled), then blue screen with somethng written appears(this text cannot be read though, as characters are here-there....I hv dual boot machine.

Now, i couldnt explain the situation properly above, maybe. so i clicked a couple of pics using my cellphone of the monitor and here r the links.

PLZ C THE SCREENSHOTS and tell me what the prob could be and if it can be resolved, then how. Plz help me out here!!

Thanks a lot!

In case your Monitor doesn't have a degaussing option, Get it degaussed by a authorised service center.

Also, try and change your monitor's position in you room... See if the problem persists. Also, check if any bare wires/ electrical appliances are running across it....

@harmik
i dun think its the problem of ur monitor.
probably ur graphics card had gone crappy or ur onboard graphics has stopped workin.
Take the monitor to ur friend's pC and see if it works.

Yes. I'm sorry, I diagnosed the problem incorrectly. It is a graphic device problem. Reinstall your Graphic drivers(Assuming that you've not already done it).

Also, check your system temperatures. Heating chipset could also lead to display corruption ...

As for hooking up your monitor to your lappy, try this www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000801.htm

if u mobo has a AGP slot then borrow a card from ur frnds and then connect ur monitor to it.the u'll know who thw culprit is.

hi!
follow the steps

first try to find out where the actuall problem is with, the monitor or the board.

try to connect it to ur friend system or any other system.
if monitor is ok then it is mobo problem.

this may occur due to various reasons.
one reason may be with the south bridge problem.
other reason may be bios or with onboard graphics controller.
if u have warranty try to replace ur mobo then to get it repaired.
i am not scaring but sometimes big problem have simple solutions.

if prob with monitor then it is simple change the monitor or get it repaired

I connected my monitor to the laptop just now.
The monitor is perfectly fine, No probs at all.
As the desktop PC isnt working. Display is all gone weird, so updating drivers or checking bios etc seem out of the question

However, i had the latest drivers installed on it. Had dlded them from the net.

As far as i remember, no frnds hv any video card. Onboard cards rule the roost here!

and motherboard is old. No warranty.

Temperature problem may arise, if computer is running for a long time.
However, the display is scrambled on switching On the PC. so temperature issues may not be it.

Right now, it seems that a new graphics card or a complete system overhaul (the desktop is now obsolete) may be the only solutions.....

If there is any other solution, plz tell me.

Thanks

hey guys i too have a problem.
it started some 7 months ago. initially it started with only hor red lines filling up the monitor. then over a period of time even blue lines started appearing, sometimes with the red line and sometime only blue. now for the past couple of weeks, green lines have startyed filling up my screen
the actual content of the monitor is visible even with all these 3 coloured lines filling up my monitor together.
please tell me what the problem is and how do i go about rectifying it
occasionally, after prolonged usage of the monitor, the lines disappear, but not always
