I wanted to buy a new display (20' - 24' LCD), which i can use both as a stand alone TV and as a computer monitor ( Something like the Samsung SyncMaster 242mp ). I have the configuration as mentioned in my signature. Please help me regarding what i should look for. How much would it cost etc..

Samsung sync master 213 T or HP Pavilion F2105 are good choice

these type of monitors will cost around 20 - 24 K

These monitors will cost way more than 20-24k especially because they have an inbuilt TV tuner. Maybe you should upgrade your graphics card so that it can actually support the insanely high resolutions these monitors work at.

Hello,
After searching thru nagpur the monitor i mentioned (Samsung SyncMaster 242mp) is nowwhere to find and anyways is cost about Rs 80,000 so its out of my budget.
Well after some pondering i have decided about Samsung LA26R51B (Rs 69,000 ), which is a 26' LCD TV. It is more of a TV than monitor.
But the samsung site suggest that it can be used as monitor, it does have DVI/VGA(D-sub). so it can be plugged into any computer.
I do like movies and i always wanted a Display like this, but i wanted to know can it be used as a acceptable PC monitor.
Please have a look at the specification
