DirectX inst. problem -I AM GOING MAD

I recently downloaded the Need for speed underground 2 demo, and upon installation, it tells me that i requireDirectX9.0c but i only haveDirectX9.0b
So i installed it from the Chip-CD.The problem is-
it took a split second from me pressing the "accept licence agreement" until the installation complete screen showed up, without showing the file transfer progress bar etc.
I checked the DX status, and aparently im still running 9.0b!!?
Also its alerting me to the fact that the file "qasf.dll" is old, and could be causing problems.
i would appreciate any help at all to try and get 9.0c to function like it should.

i think u had posted this earlier too
anyways ditch that small file
just get directx 9.0x redistributable
ull be downloadin the same amt of data anyways
get it from digit cd's or here

i have tried all the methods but those of no help.
i think have to install my OS again
