Right off the assembly line
guys, i want to give up the use of windows completely and switch to linux. i use fedora core 5. i have a tata indicom wireless internet connection. they gave me a software, including all the drivers, and i have no trouble in connecting in windows. but i want to get the connection in linux. the dialup number is given in the connection properties as #777. the speed is 115.2(promised). i did everything that was given in the fast-track of Apr-06(in kppp), but every time i dial, i get an error message "no carrier". the phone has a small lcd display, which shows "calling.." when i try to dial. do tell me how to get past this. everything i could gather from windows is given below.
device name: standard 33600 bps modem
device type: modem
server type : ppp
transports:tcp/ip
authentication: md5 chap
compression:none
ppp multilink framing : off
server ip address: 0.0.0.0
client ip address:219.64.67.189(keeps changing).
