I've recently purchased a Sony DVD player,its model no. is DVP-SR 660P:
DVP-SR660P : DVD Player : DVD/HDD Players : Sony India
I decided to opt for this model in particular as it supports the Xvid codec(it is clearly mentioned in its manual that its compatible with Xvid,also there's an Xvid logo on its front bezel as well as on its box).However,to my great dismay,when i tried playing some video files today that were encoded with Xvid,i received a "Data Error".I googled this error and found that many users have faced exactly the same issue with their sony DVD players,especially while attempting to play DVD rips by Axxo/FxG etc.I tried to play some of Axxo's dvd rips but could not get them to work either.
This is really weird,although this player is Xvid certified,it still cannot play Xvid encoded files.Can anyone suggest a way to resolve this problem?Thanks
