The app you are using can't play videos. Why you bought such poor app? when nexus media importer was available?? (or is it cr@CkeD )

i can confirm on my nexus 5 and 7(2012) i cannot use usb otg without root
i found a solution without root however- use nexus media importer,works like a charm with my 1200D

I have nexus 7 2012 32gb and I can browse and play any content using my otg cable off my seagate 1tb NTFS HDD and 8gb HP flash Drive without rooting.
All thanks to ES File manager.
BTW have you updated your tablet to kitkat4.4.4?

to use USB you have to click on the options button on the top left corner and open Local tab>USB

UPDATE:-
thanks your method worked!! dunno why its hidden away like this,samsung phones show options for otg in the notification centre itself
though im disappointed that NTFS support is not yet present :(
still nifty feature though for pendrives etc
doesnt connect to my other android and windows phone devices

NTFS is present - you can copy from an external device to nexus but cannot paste to it yet

it says ntfs support isnt there yet and will be implemented in further updates and im running the latest version of es file explorer
any idea how to work around this? also does it support external Hdds?

is this on nexus 4 or nexus 7?
It works fine on my tab nexus 7 2012
