I bought this CoolerMaster case fan: DAF-B82
12V 0.15A.. dual ball bearing
It comes with a 3 pin connector
A 3 pin to 4 pin convertor is also provided.
I have Intel D865GBF board with 2.4GHz prescott(non HT)
Are the 3 pin fan connection points in this board compatible with this 12 V fan ?(I don't know if the board supports 5V or 12V fans..actually are all fans 12 V?? or r there 5V fans.. another point is that this fan has a thermal sensor.)
What temp are normal for this processor & board?
with no case fans.. I also don't have graphics card.. so System Zone 2 hots up fast during gaming.

A 3-pin connector is meant specifically to connect to the terminals on your motherboard. Motherboard connectors are designed for 12V fans.

With the 3-pin to 4-pin converter you could connect it to your Molex connectors i.e. the connectors coming out from your PSU.

Since your proc is a Prescott, expect very high temps. I wouldnt be surprised if you're breaching 60 deg C very easily.

Yep, the Molex connector is usually the safer option - forgot to mention that!
Of course make sure your RPM sensing pin on your 3-pin connector is plugged in to your motherboard if you want to take advantage of the RPM readout from your fan.
