simple wifi router is just router & can be used with cable/ethernet broadband connections without any need of a modem.only for adsl connections which uses telephone wire a modem is needed along with router.there are also adsl wifi modem/router which work as both adsl modem & wifi router.if your connection is not adsl you can buy a simple wifi router.best options are from tp-link & asus.

13U B1 ain't recommended if you looking for great Wi-fi range!
but its features like 3g usb modem support & torrent downloader score over short range.

I dont want all these download features , I will install it at home so that my parents can talk with me on skype as I live in UAE and my bro can Browse Wifi on his Iphone while he is at home for vactaion, Prefer a good range over all these features.
In 2 months time only my Mom Dad will use it on tab for video Calling and they dont know what a TAB means for now so dont except them to browse even Internet.
Need a reliable maintainence free device as I doubt my parents can troubleshooot it incase . For now I shall Install it.

Since I have broadband (2mbps) I dont need Modem Right ??? I dont have even a pc to use, Will configure only for wireless use
For my 2MBPS connection do I need 300Mbps router or 150Mbps is suffice ?

forget about netgear/dlink/belkin etc.under Rs.5000 range only tp-link & asus are the options worth their price rest all brands are just not good enough.you can get 841N & 150/300mps matters only if you have a more than 150mbps broadband connection(which some countries do btw) so the only thing to consider is range & basic thumb rule is more the no. of antennas better will be the range.841N has 2 antennas so get this one.
