If portable and rugged looks are your main concern. Then have a look at Lenovo ThinkPad X Series X220.
Other options you have are:
Sony VAIO E Series VPCEG38FN
Asus U Series U36SD-RX010V
And there are Thinkpad laptops with 14" screen size, you can have a look at them here
And if you can extend your budget to 55k then you can have a look at Sony S series, which is also very good and also Acer Aspire S3 Aspire S is an option

Even you can have a look at Samsung NP530U4B-S02IN

So I would suggest you to first decide that you want a 14" or a 13" or a 12.5" laptop. It will be easy for you then to choose a laptop.

Extend your budget and get Sony CB45.

Thats a great laptop but OP wants a light and small laptop, have a look at OP's requirements. So it is not the right laptop for him

well, since you mentioned you need 6-8 hours of battery life, only that thing will come close. Reason is - that has a Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processor. That's the reason why it has "low" clocks.

Sad GPU? No laptop with a discrete GPU will give you 6-8 hour battery life. :( Time to tweak your priority.

I'd suggest you to wait for AMD Trinity laptops. Couple of months away. Only that will meet your priority perfectly - fast enough CPU, great built-in graphics (no discrete) and better battery life than Intel i5/i7 "suitcase" powerhogs.

i obviously dont require 6-8 hours life on a battery pack for gaming, but yes it should last 6-8 hours. Also when will these apus be launched ? i have to buy in some time...

AMD Trinity is for you then. Me as well. made for gamers on the go.

They're coming on 15th this week, I heard. Indian availibility of laptops should take ~2 months.

Check out how last year's AMD Llano fared against i5-2520M in power consumption (lower is better). Not to say that it was running a 3D workload - and obviously performing ~1.5X faster as well (because of better built-in graphics.)

Only Trinity can give good proccy and graphics with a good battery life. But as ico said it would take atleast 2 months, and we don't know if they will launch their top-of-the-line apu here.
Llano A8 never came to India :(
