my comp specs are as follows:
intel c2d e7200 processor
intel dg35 motherboard
1gb x2 ddr2 ram
nvidia 9500gt 512 mb
seagate 250gb sata hdd
wd 160gb usb hdd
sony dvd rw dru-v200a

whenever i read or write a dvd or cd my computer lags horribly.... even when no other processor is running.... it takes me 40 mins to burn a dvd or even a cd and i can barely open my computer..... i can't watch a movie off a dvd because it lags too much everytime i have to copy data from the dvds onto my comp and even that takes too much time..... i've asked around and each time i get the reply that i'm runnin in PIO mode and not DMA, but that is not an issue.... i really don't know what to do ..... someone please help me......

Ok so U mean to say DMA is on ??

Is the HDD & DVD Drive on the same IDE Cable?? Also, just check them.

And Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > System : Does any error shows in ter for this particular prob ??
