Hi All,

Will anybody tell me, which is the cheapest gprs enabled phone available in the market?

I want to use Idea or Airtel GPRS intrnet service using the same.

Also, is there anything like speed of GPRS supported by the phone? Means, if I buy a cheap gprs phone then will it give me less internet speed than the expensive one?

You'r Born Free
Nokia 3220 + Dku 50 cable and u r done.
U can get nokia 6021 for a lesser price.
If at your location there is EDGE present than these are cheapest EDGE phone too.
Yes there are classes of gprs phone. These are class 10 gprs phone which only LG provide at similar rates.
Go 4 the above phones. Its good if u get the cable from same place of phone, because many cable r fake. Cable may cost Rs 150-200.
Tell the dealer to test the cable before u.

If you want to browse internet on a mobile phone, apart from GPRS, you have o consider the size of the display. My pick is motorola L6i.

should be around 5k now.

Thanks for all ur replies! But I wanna buy gprs phone to access internet on my pc so screen size is not a problem for me.

Before some time I read somewhere on this forum that data cable or some other cable makes huge impact on the speed that u can get using gprs. What is it exactly? I dunno much abt it.

Also can u share the actual speed u get using Idea ir Airtel or any similar gprs internet service? I have seen these companies' websites making tall claims like "high speed, always on " etc. Is it true that u get high speed using gprs?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Amit.

what is your budget? You have to buy data cable separately with L6. So, it will not suite your need.

Hi Ambandla,

Budget is not a problem. I want a good handset that will give me high speed on internet. Otherwise after purchasing I will get to know that "this is not the appropriate handset for gprs.... kind of comments....".

I checked Motorola L6i suggested by u. But it does not have EDGE support. I read somewhere that EDGE gives better performance. I dunno if EDGE is related to gprs internet access....so forgive me if I have written something out of context here.

Amit.

Yes. EDGE gives lot better performance.

GPRS class 10 offers 48kbps speed
EDGE class 10 offers 237kbps speed.

Cheapest class 10 EDGE phone:

Nokia: 5200 express music
Motorola: L7i
Sony Ericsson : W300i (flip open). or

Check Nokia 6233. This is EDGE cum 3G phone.
Note: 3G is not yet available in India. It offers 384 kbps speed.

3220, 60210 have only class 6 EDGE, so you can get only 100/120 kbps in real, the minimum priced class 10 EDGE phone is nokia 5200, now costs 6.5 k ........
