how to insert image ?

u just need to change 1st bootable drive in BIOS
Change it to cd/dvd drive

Is that all for every motherboard?mine is DG41WV.
its already set to cd/dvd rom

The Cd Tray opens on pressing button but the disk is not shown in my computer.
What could be the fault?

in bios menu look for boot settings/boot device priority.by default hard disk is selected as 1st boot device.you have to change the order so dvd drives comes first before hard disk only then system will try to boot from dvd/cd.if you have already done it then check dvd by copying all files from it to a folder on your hard disk when running xp.if any crc error comes up then your dvd will not work in your drive.

It opens on pressing the physical button, but not shown in my computer.
Are there any other hardware connections other than 2 on the cd-rom?

pressing button ejecting tray means power connection to drive is working properly.now its detection by mobo/pc depends on the other connection(sata).recheck the cable & try with a different cable/sata port.if still no success then try this drive in another system.

follow what whitestar_999 has suggested. Also check in BIOS if you see the CD/DVD Drive getting detected or not.
