Cannot connect to internet

Right off the assembly line
I have a Lenovo IBM R60 type 9457 laptop.
The problem with my laptop is I am not able to connect to the internet.When the cable is plugged in it shows as connected but it does not receives request from the server.
I tried the cable in other laptop for any problem but it was working fine in that laptop.
I did worked in my IBM laptop 2days ago but all of the sudden this changes occured.I have now formatted the laptop but still its not working.
What might be the cause for this issue.What should I do to make things right . Please help.:!::!::!::!::!:

Before i comment anything. Try these basic steps- Go to start>run and type cmd. In the command prompt type the below:
1. ipconfig/release
2. ipconfig/flushdns
3. ipconfig/renew

Then after the ip gets renewed...Go to start>run and type services.msc
Go to DHCP client and restart the service....

If this still doesnt help then think that your Lan card is fried as u are saying that you are doing in on a fresh windows install and that the cable is working fine in other laptop.
