Can I install more RAM in a new DELL Laptop without voiding the warranty?

Hi Guys,

I am planning to buy a new laptop for my mom. And came across one config where the laptop has 2 DDR3 slots, one of which is installed with a 2GB DDR3 card.

My question is can I buy the laptop, then immediately open it up and install an additional 4GB DDR3 card by myself of say Corsair, without voiding the warranty on the laptop??

Any inputs appreciated, Thanks for reading.

Yes, adding RAM to the laptop does'nt void warranty unless you damage something.. :p

Hey ratul thanks for the reply. But are you absolutely sure about it? I only ask because isn't the simple opening of devices sometimes enough to void their warranty (in official terms "opening by unauthorized people")?? Just puzzled, shouldn't that apply to laptops as well!!

open the back cover and install ram. installing ram & hard drive won't void warranty. just don't peel off any sticker.

ok thanks. But please solve the second part of my question also:
I am planning to buy this RAM from flipkart. It will work at both 1333MHz as well as 1600MHz right?? In other words it shouldn't cause compatibility issues with a slower clocked ram, they simply will work at the lower rate, right??
