Buying graphics card from USA

Hi one of my friends is returning from USA by the year end. I was thinking if I could ask him to buy a graphics card for me. The card is gigabyte HD 7870 Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-R787OC-2GD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card. It is $240 (Rs 13440). It is currently not available in India. Flipkart says it is 23k(out of stock). I heard that one can bring electronics worth Rs 25k without paying customs(in USA and India). I know that I cant claim warranty in India. But are there any other issues(especially related to customs)?

If you play smart, you can bring electronics worth a lakh rupees without paying customs.
My brother managed getting 2*galaxy S2,1*iphone,1*htc inspire,1*i5 3570k ~ 1600$ ~INR 90000 without paying a penny extra.

And since you re bringing just one GPU, you wont be charged. To be on the safer side, just unbox it; as doing so will take customs out of question.

A 7870 here will cost u ~ 18k ~ 320$ here.

On newegg, you can get a 7950 (quite better than 7870) for ~ 300$.
