1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I am a visual effects artist so I do a lot of 3D modeling, texturing and rendering. My current system (AMD Octacore) is unable to handle the detailed hi-res work that I plan to do in the near future. So, I need a system which can handle that load. I also play games like GTA V, Battlefield and Witcher 3. As for the apps, I will mainly be running 3ds Max, Maya, Photoshop, MARI & Zbrush. Within the 3D apps, I do plan to run some particle sim plugins for R&D, Physically correct renderers and painting 8k-16k+ resolution textures.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: My budget is 150K and can spend about 20-30K more.
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:no.
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 8
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I have an old 320 GB in my system and recently got a 1TB internal drive. But I want to go for a SSD as my primary drive in the new rig.
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:Yes. want to setup a dual 1080p/60fps/24" monitor rig. (can spend extra for the monitors, i'd rather start with one monitor than compromising on the processing power)
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Do not want to buy speakers / headphones. I'm looking for processing power, these peripherals can be bought later.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:July/August 2015
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:Yes I built the gaming rig I am currently using.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Living in Bangalore. Open to both local and online purchase.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: See if you guys can fit in an 8 core intel processor with Hyperthreading.
