posting on behalf of a friend. no qualms in getting a phone from overseas too, as one of his uncles lives at dubai, and he can source one from him. dual sim is a requirement. he was considering htc desire 816 till now, but since the time it became clear that it has no stock file explorer, and in kitkat, 3rd party file explorers dont have write-access to the ext. card yet, he is again clueless. sony t2 ultra was the next choice, but the large 6" screen and 1gb RAM were the deterrent.

please suggest.

You can consider Moto X. But as your requirement is dual sim phone then you can buy Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 @ 18k

We later came to know that files could be moved to an ext. SD card on the HTC Desire 816 using the phone's gallery, hence, the absence of a stock file manager isn't going to be an issue. We visited a Croma store to try it on the phone at display there, following which, he has decided to move ahead with his earlier decision to buy the same.
