ya...i have sen one of my frens use it...
First he used GPRS Rs 37 scheme where he could use it only on fone....but it had the serious disadvantage tht BSNL charged him for per KB download....

then he shifted to Rs 199 scheme which restricts data tranfer to 4GB per month...for any additional data downloads, he had to pay....

so, its upto u...to choose ur scheme...

the only competitor BSNL GPRS has is with AIRTEl.....airtel has the advantage that the Customer care service is far superior than BSNL....i m using Airtel Mobile Office and have speeds around 7KBps..here in Gauhati ...

all the best!

hey Josan...what plans r u talking of...??? what is ur location,,,??

in my place we have two plans:-
1. NOP = Rs 99 per month....for mobile use...no charge for per KB downloads..
2. Mobile office = Rs 249 per month...for pc use...no charge for per KB d/l..

all these plans are on per day basis...like if u activate for 1week, they will charge u only for 1 week...

You gave been GXified
GPRS gives a maximum speed of 8 KBps only, so it's not worthwhile for a computer. if you are going for Airtel NOP plan remember one thing it doesn't support POP3 in Mobile phone.

The BSNL GPRS plan is good, but then again better use broadband. However if u can live with 8KBps then Rs 200 for unlimited is not a bad deal

GPRS with EDGE technology gives around 14-16 KBps speeds(maximum)....AFAIK it is available in pune.......otherwise it gives 8KBps without EDGE as u said..
