Open the Terminal Window (similar to DOS console in Windows) and type 'kppp'
You can give your username , password etc., and configure the modem as
/dev/modem/. Now click on the dial button. If all goes right it will get connected.
Try opening a webpage to check if you can connect to the Net.
You can also read more about 'kppp' problem-solving details here:

hmmm... you can do the same as above using GUI by clicking on the fedora menu, pointing to internet & then selecting kppp. A lot easier for newbies, instead of command prompt.

If your Window Manager is KDE. Then you can choose 'kppp' from the menu.
Or try the 'run command' from the KDE menu, type 'kppp' . It will open the kppp
application!!

You can invoke KDE applications from GNOME!! From the Terminal Window type
'kppp' and it should open Kppp. It will work . Try it.

Look cyberzook, follow this procedure and u will definately get connected to dataone broad band .

Its for suse 10- GNOME

It works equally well for kde as well.

I guess you are using modem via ethernet coz it doesn't work for usb.

Click on applications (on left hand side at top)

click yast right at bottom.

Click network devices.

In nework devices click dsl and complete the formalities like username and password.

Finish the process and go to Network services in same yast control centre window.

click dns and hostname.

Entre 61.1.96.69 in the space provided for Name server 1

Entre 61.1.96.71 in the space provided for Name server 2

Finish the process and you are done with the settings.
