High without substance...
We in india hardley get 2000 Kbps and thats VERY GOOD.
Just imagine in Germany at my friends place the isp has offered free upgrade to "16000 Kbps" no its not typing mistake "16000 Kbps" and that to at 1500 Rs per month with unlimited downloads and uploads.

What is the use of this speed?
There if you are really unluckly you will be booked and charged. :(

Hey man, this has been discussed hundreds of time. My friend in Slovakia pays 30$ for 100MBPS :)

Just one note : please remember Rome wasnt built in a day. Give it time for proper infrastructure to take shape in India

Europe has major Internet backbone. While Asia is lags behind. Wait for year or two. Remember two yrs back, an average user had 56k dialup connection which disconnect 100 times and most used to be online once for 1 hr in a day. Now we have moved to bradband of 256k and then 2MBPS and soon 8MBPs. :)

^Only if Rome was built in a day!!
But ISPs here rob the hell out of people. I never get promised 128kbps and since I use Linux, most of the technicians do not know how to configure:(

i did not compare to make any discrimination.

I agree with both of you.
Inida will be there, but it will take time maybe 2 years or more.
But the question is what good is that speed for home users?
if in india one gets that kind of speeds he will make sure that he uses it to the fullest, by downloading via torrents and other illegial stuff.
But in places like Germany its risky. You can get caught and charged for piracy and stuff like that.

And most of the servers i think do not support that kind of bandwidth.

Yeah, people will misuse internet for sure. Everyone will juice out the bandwidth for sure, but the craze would die in a yr or two . Then it will be no big deal. :p

Germany risky - LOL.....Yeah possible there can be few arrests but let me tell you Germany is full of Warez servers. Not to forget Warez spreader Rapidshare was in Germany until they moved to Sweden.

And about the other western and central nations like USA and UK and Turkey etc., man they make around 80% of the seeders of all my torrents. Piracy is everywhere.
You might be right about Germany, I never had any seeder from Germany:D
