On my computer Windows 98 & XP are installed. But recently I have installed elx BizDesktop Linux from an old DIGIT DVD.It was installed properly but by mistake I have installed it on the windows 98 partition by formatting it.Since than it is showing the BOOT DISK FAILURE error.I have use FIXBOOT & FIXMBR commands from the Windows XP CD without any effect.I think the Boot files are lost.I also formatted Linux Partition. Now there is only Windows XP installed on my PC but it is not Booting. Please help me because i do not want to loose any data on my computer.

Thanks in Advance

BOOT.ini
BOOTSECT.dos
ntdetect.com
ntldr

This four files are in C: that help in dual booting. this files are needed for booting of Windows Xp in your D: .as you have formated your c: drive this files are no longer there.
try to get this files from some other computer, and put in your c drive and edit boot.ini to boot winxp from in D drive.
or use
* "winPE" bootable cd ,it will boot your computer from cd ,and also has option to connect to internet
*"Ultimate boot CD" it also bootable cd with trouble shooter
this will help you to save data.

Boot using Windows XP CD and enter into Recovery Console, then give following commands one by one:

bootcfg/rebuild
fixboot
fixmbr

It should solve the problem :)
