MELBOURNE: BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah on Monday warned that 'unnecessary' targeting of Harbhajan Singh by Australian spectators and media could result in a similar treatment for the world champions when they tour India later this year.

Harbhajan was cleared of any wrongdoing by match referee after local media reported that the off-spinner had 'aped' like a monkey towards the Sydney crowd during the first tri-series finals and the BCCI seems to have lost its patience after the latest controversy.

"Let Australia come to us and see what the (Indian) crowd might do," Shah said.

"It's not a good thing, people must forget. All these reports are unnecessary, when your team comes here, if it's too much media attention maybe there will be the same crowd behaviour in India," he was quoted as saying by The Age .

I guess a very very strong rivalry has now been established between India and Australia in the game of Cricket....

see, Australia finds that there is only one team who have the capacity to challenge them, so they are trying to challenge them outside of ground to get some mental advantage ;)

Niranjan Shah is a ****ing moron, just because they lick arse doesn't mean we have to. Such statements by idiots like Shah only provocate the situation more. It's a game for crying out loud, not a war

It would have been awesome, for the same would have happened if this moron hadn't mentioned it. Now the fun and the anticipation is off!

It was quoted by The Age. Who trusts Oz media?

He might have only said that what happened in Australia might also happen in India if such things continue.
