ATI GPU in Nvidia chipset motherboard?

I have this GPU - Sapphire HD5450 1GB DDR3 - link

Can I use the GPU on this motherboard - Asus M4N68T-M LE - link?

(The motherboard has NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a)

Or, would you suggest some other AM3/AM3+ motherboard within a budget of 3k (IDE port is a must)?

why do ATi and nVidia graphic cards work in Intel chipset motherboards??

Only thing which matters is a PCI Express slot.
