That’s right, 1 million AT&T (formerly Cingular) customers have requested to be notified of any more information of the iPhone when its announced, including final prices, tariffs and, of course, the release date for the iPhone*www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSN2745435120070327?feedType=RSS.

It seems that the iPhone has generated so much hype around the world that one network operator alone has had to deal with a number of its customers asking for more information on Apple’s beautiful contraption. It’s not mentioned whether or not 1 million interested folk is an unusually high number, I dare say its pretty average, but surely this is good news for Apple and bad new for critics who suggested the iPhone wouldn’t cause much fuss after its announcement.

For anyone else interested in the iPhone, whether or not you’re on AT&T’s network, run along to this web address to fill in the form to be notified of any further announcements - or just check iPhone Matters on a regular basis!

so, apple is doing well .....hmmm.
The only times Apple was not doing well were:
* At the launch of Apple ]|[ (apple3) - Apple had to recall a lot of those
* At the absence of Steve Jobs - when Jobs was kicked out of Apple, Apple went to its near-bankruptcy stage. Steve Jobs rescued Apple again, of course. (Jony Ive is responsible for Apple's success too)

None yet. Let it be launched first, buddy.

A hacker needs to have the phone in his hand before he can attempt to unlock it. :p

Apple does not fail usually because of the fanbase. Current example being the Apple TV, its crippled but we have a whole thread here in this forum with apple users justifying its awesome. If you are ready to accept the flaws of a product considering them as a feature, then why would the product fail.

btw , Here are some more apple things which didn't pick up...

I like the iphone. Just the look and interface. Thats it . That makes this a good option too. Iphone is going to do good, but it wont replace ipods as a music player.

No one is saying it is awesome. I myself said I wouldn't buy it.
But it is targeted at a particular market, people who use the iTunes Store and iTunes for getting and storing their movies. If these people want to get that content onto a TV, the Apple TV is a simple and straightforward way to achieve that.
Nothing more. Nothing less.

It is not for geeks and everyone knows that. It is a single purpose device and excels at whatever little it does. :)

Every product does what its ment for, problem is how it does it and when it lacks the expected and needed features which certify it being a good product.

No doubt you have read that thread , an there is no reason you will buy that for your standard def tv(as you mentioned), specially if you don't have subscription to apple's services. But in that thread no one is ready to accept the flaws of the product, instead of that apple users are defending the product as they are paid by the company.

Apple TV is not everything bad, criticizing the flaws will only help in getting a better one next time , but what we have here is blind worship of a company and the mentality that every product it shoots out is necessarily good and the world should accept it without a question.

If anyone lets any corp to rule his mind to such an extent, then that person has lost the credibility to fairly review any product from that particular xyz company. And others will not give a damn even if sometimes that person is right.

Just like that, there are people who will criticise everything negatively from Apple just because they are wont to do so. Unfortunately, you belong to that category too.
When people say it won't play DivX movies, no one says they are wrong. Yes, we know it doesn't and yes, that is a flaw.
But then people say things like you cannot connect it to TVs that are not widescreen HDTVs or that it is a flaw that QuickTime does not allow any customisations in the "Export to Apple TV" option. You cannot expect people not to refute such misinformed statements, which in most cases are blatant lies.

Before declaring me as 'anything from apple' hater. Just look in to the mirror, and you will see the one of the most biased member on this forum. If I had to criticize anything from apple then you would have seen my enormous number of posts in every single apple thread. But fortunate for you I don’t do this , because unlike some people I don’t start anti OS threads. Even in this thread I didn’t name any specific user when I posted the comments , but for some reason you took it personally, and this only happens when what I commented fits to your description. Btw I quoted nepcker and you were not even in the scene, but you jumped in as expected.

If you had gone through your own posts so far in this forum , you would have never posted this nonsense here, because this fits to you more than me. You are Windows anti-fanboy and I don’t need to prove this. I don’t give a sh1t about any company , I use what is suitable for me , brand loyalty is not my thing.

And, btw you insult GX(MS fanboy) for his spelling mistakes (when you have nothing better to post) , but see your own grammar which does not make sense.
Just like that, there are people who will criticise everything negatively from Apple just because they are wont to do so.
May be this is some new kind of grammar which I am unaware of. But if it really is a mistake, then I am not 'you' to make fun of such stupid things, even I make mistakes (may be more, even in this post).

FYI, Whatever you wrote above has nothing to do with me , I didn't post anything like that. So don't point finger at me , exactly what you did in this post.

I won't reply to the rest of the post because I am not interested in kicking off another long winded flame war here. But this is interesting.

I am rather proud of the exceptional command I have over the English language. So I was quite shocked when I saw that you were accusing me of having poor grammar skills. I thought that maybe I had commited a typo and you were trying to make an issue out of nothing. But even that would have been a lot more dignified than what the actual matter turned out to be. LOL!

That statement, my dear - the one you highlighted - is grammatically accurate to the last word. There is a difference between the words "won't" and "wont". The phrase "because they are wont to do so" means because they are accustomed to doing so.

I don't think any less of your language skills because of your not knowing a word that I do. But it is certainly a disgrace that you so openly criticised me about it when you yourself do not have the slightest clue.

gx_saurav keeps harping about my age, trying to show off that since he is four years elder to me, he is somehow automatically a better or more intelligent person. But posts like these make you realise that age does not necessarily define the literacy or knowledgeability of any given person. Please look at youself before pointing a finger at others in future!

You cant because you have nothing to say abt it, as every word i said is true. And since when you started hating flame wars, i know you won't loose a chance to mark your appearance in a flaming thread. Who made this thread stink with personal flames , not me. This is when you go personal , before this it was going well.

Just look at my sig and then at yours, see who fits better in anti-fanboy category you mentioned.

The point exactly , As i said i make many mistakes in my posts but i don't make fun of other people like you. This is what i was trying to say. Read again

I am not ashamed a bit that i thought it was won't instead of wont(new addition to my vocab), and i even mentioned that this may be something i may be unaware of. But your egotistical reply proves the point that you won't loose a chance like this. This is exactly what i was saying.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind - Mahatma Gandhi.

I am certainly not Gandhi , but you are right , I don't want this thread locked. Lets get back to the discussion like it was, before it turned in to flames.

ahem....What :D

I would like to ask you one question. What do you know about computers or technology other then Apple & Mac. No seriously, cos just like many other memebers of this forum I have never seen you helping anyone regarding anything Non-Apple or non-Mac....all we have seen you is in flame wars of Win Vs Mac.

Tarey, atleast u r wise, get back to topic.

P.S, - Have to stop watching Heroes so late in night.

The joy Of Wow
Apple TV...I read the review...They have already started hacking & replacing the inbuilt harddisk with faster ones & burning the OS image on it & they are trying to make it play other formats also...They did make it boot through the USB port also...But divx being a standard format nowadays should have been supported by that TV

after posting this when I read the topic, I remembered that the topic is about IPHONE not TV...

One thing is missing from here: the Settings menu bears an important (and, so far, unrealized) command: Update Software. The functionality of the Apple TV is governed largely by the software that runs it. Should Apple wish to expand the Apple TV's functionality, one way to do so is by updating its software. I doubt Apple would have included such a command unless it intended to put it to some use.

*imgnation.net/images/ztla.jpg

Besides, the day after the Apple TV was released, at least three Web sites posted hacks for upgrading the Apple TV to hold a 120GB hard drive. Likewise, there are hacks floating around for playing video formats other than MPEG-4 and H.264 on the thing. Use the Google, my friend.

Here's a link to a YouTube video about hacking Apple TV:
I've also posted a "Hacking Apple TV" thread:

I also don't blindly follow Apple . Actually, many Windows users blindly follow Microsoft. Whether they get a OS that's a shameless copy of another operating system, or whether it's a plethora of error messages, or a lot of blue screens of death and DLL errors, they just seem to stick with Windows. Apple TV isn't a complete product right now, but does let you do a lot of things. And there are hacks floating around. I've posted a few links.

And oh, isn't this thread supposed to be about iPhone, the coolest-and-best cellular phone till date? The iPhone released here in Asia will be unlocked, right? So I think the unlocked phone will be available only in 2008. Of course, the Europe version or the US version itself may be unlocked. (Though hackers may have posted a hack by then.)

Its not the first time you have written this in the forum, so if I had any intention to start the non conclusive threads i would have replied it earlier.
This thing has already been discussed in long threads which usually end up with 2-3 members suspended in shameful misery, the same can happen here.
btw , fanboys are on both (in fact three) sides and I don't like any.

Ya that's your opinion only, but different people different choices.
btw , this thread is about iphone , and my first post in this thread was related to your previous post + I did post my opinion about iphone.

hmmm.. things slowly getting back to normal... good :)

anyways, the thing that is surprising is that prada is a worthy comptt to iphone and it was conceptualised at abt the same time as iphone! now... cud there be somwthing fishy???!! ;)

the iphone is generating the same kind of hype which vista generated. time will tell whether it'll live upto its expectations.... a lot depends on pricing too. but yes, the concept of complete touch screen is good. kudos to apple and lg! :)

Yes, Prada and iPhone look very similar. But it is not possible that either of the companies could have copied the design. To make a great design, it takes several months, so to copy it in a few weeks and to get it work is nearly impossible.

Yes, the iPhone is priced insanely high. But I guess Apple will lower the prices as it's gonna face a great competition.

Reading the articles of who have been able to use the iPhone, even for a short while, they all seem to be impressed. "It feels quite thin, the screen is remarkably responsive, and impressively bright. It's much better than Jobs showcased it on his keynote. It's much more impressive when your finger is running across its multi-touch screen.", asys Jason Snell. (google to find out who jason is)
