USB3.1 has been introduced already and it's creating quite a stir in the enthusiast market already with its bumped up specs and ASUS, like other motherboard manufacturers have introduced USB3.1 solutions for their existing lineup of motherboards.

This works in two ways:

1. There are add in cards available (dual Type-A and dual Type-C) that utilizes a PCIe x4/x8/x16 slot. Utilizing this requires a BIOS and a driver update. Users also need to check the QVL for compatible motherboards which can use these cards.

2. ASUS has also introduced a couple of new motherboards with built in USB3.1 solution inbuilt. These have two USB3.1 ports in the rear I/O (Type-A).

3. There's also a discrete USB3.1 Type-C Card with a single port available.

ASUS is using a proprietary USB3.1 boost utility as well. ASUS says this accelerates USB 3.1 for sequential read/write speeds of up to 854.6-863.9MB/s.

I haven't gotten any of these to test yet, but expect the full report on these soon. USB3.1 Type C looks to be more exciting amongst the two with reversible connector and a power output envelope of 100W.
