hey, i have a two chips of 128MB SDRAM in dual channel 133mhz. i recently downloaded memturbo, a RAM defrag and recovery software. what i have experienced is that after recovery, from 40, the free RAM goes to 140MB. but the computer slows down a bit for sometime. also, there is an option called SCRUb RAM. after that, the computer really slows down but a huge amount of RAM is recovered. also, my computer has started crashing a little after scrubbing RAM.

So I want to know that are these types of sware safe?

Also, why can I have a max. of 140MB RAM free only? Why not above that? 8 MB is shared by onboard graphics.....where is the other 100MB?
even the slider of 'how much RAM to recover doesn't move above 190MB RAM.....please reply fast

As for ram defraggers, I don't think it's required as it is for rotating disks.

u need RAM to run the OS and other applications

and u might get some free RAM if u decrease the onboard Video memory
and the AGP aperture size

i agree with ur observation.
i dont think ramoptimizers improve performance. they just suck the ram from others using it, making them slow for a whil. hence i prefer to call them ram-suckers.
