APC BackUPS 600VA Warranty Claim

I need to raise a warranty claim with APC for a UPS which has suddenly started acting strange

The red light keeps glowing with beeps when there is load on the UPS. I am guessing this was meant for Overload Protection.
With very light loads I get them. The UPS is not able to even power a Set Top Box. It is 1 Year 2 Months old from date of purchase

Any pointers? on

1. What I could try before the warranty claim
2. What I should be aware of while the warranty claim is processed? Should I expect long period for repair or would APC generally replace etc.?
3. Would it be on-site warranty? I think I remember reading it as 24 month on-site warranty
