m looking for a free dos laptop since my college provides free microsoft OS. any brand will do.

my preferences are:
1. free dos (will be installing windows 7)
2. 9 cell (how much will it cost to upgrade from 6 cell battery?)
3. c2d 2.0 atleast
4. not more than 2.3kg
5. 13.3 or 14.1 inch screen is fine.
6. will upgrade to 4GB RAM atleast
7. minimum of 250GB HDD
8. multi touch pad will be great although m not sure which brands provide this feature except apple and lenovo

regards and waiting in anticipation. thanx

Quad Core laptops near 30K ?:shock: Its impossible. Gimme the link.

Till then, check this out: *www.zenith-india.com/zenithlimitededition-envy.aspx and also *www.zenith-india.com/zenithlimitededition-ego.aspx

Buy it, and with the remaining 6k, upgrade RAM to 4GB, (1.3k cost), see if you can change to 12-cell batteries.

Best option for you.

With that budget, I think you can optimize Dell Studio 15. This one is a superb model and has a stunning design and form-factor. Also, you will get free upgrade to Windows 7.
