My friend recently bought ASUS M2N PV VM..now the problem is that his ATA HDD and the CD-RW is not detecting..in the bios...what may be the problem ??

Can both ATA and SATA HDD be used and access together ???

Yes both ATA and SATA devices (HDD/optical drives) can be used and accessed together at the same time.
try changing the IDE cable,try updating BIOS.

y this M2NPV-VM mobo is not included in the vista certified mobo list whereas M2NPV-MX is there in the list ?
MX is Rs.1000 cleaper then VM ....

Can the optical drives be connected through SATA...interface instead of IDE(ATA) interface..???

if u wanna connect optical drives to SATA interface then u'll hav to buy SATA optical drives,u wont be able to use normal IDE drives in SATA ports.

Yeah SATA optical drives r costlier than their IDE counterparts.
afaik u'll get them within 3.5k.
