Hey guys
i wanna upgrade from my present system(which is totally crap) to a AMD system
dont have much of a budget('bout 17k on RAM,mobo,hdd,processor,gfx)
i was thinking of
AMD 64 2800+
ASUS k8s-mx(digit silver buy :?: FEB :?: )
512 MB RAM(suggest the company)
80 GB seagate HDD

i could go for a better board but it is the :?: ONLY :?: board for 2800+ with onboard graphics and also a agp slot so that i can get a better 1 when i get more cash. What do u guys think of this config???
Also would i need WIN xp 64 bit edition?
and what do u guys think about the sempron

MSI has the K8MM-ILSR mobo which also has onboard gfx and an AGP slot. It uses the VIA KT800 chipset. The S3 Unichrome gfx is not good enough for serious gaming, but AFAIK there's no better onboard gfx available for S754.

I've used a few K8MM-ILSR's (with A64 2800+ and separate gfx cards) but not the K8S-MX, and I have not seen a review comparing the two, but VIA has a better reputation than SiS regarding chipsets.

The K8MM-ILSR is a decent budget mobo with onboard Firewire, SATA, RAID, but no Gigabit LAN.

No, you don't need a 64-bit OS or other 64-bit software to be able to use AMD 64 processors. A64 CPUs are fully compatible with current 32-bit software. At present, for the average user, A64 systems are just like fast 32-bit computers.

In case u still want to save a few bucks more then get a Gigabyte GAK8V800M for arnd 3.5-3.6k. For ram get some generic ram with hynix chips which shud cost you less.

How about this rig

Amd 64 3000+ (939pin) - RS 13000 (combine price)
MSI RS480
80 GB Seagata Rs 2550
512 DDR Ram (400Mhz) Rs 3000 (Transcend if available otherwise

Zion)

TOTAL Rs 18550

It is a bit higher from your budget but i will prove to be the best deal for you becoz Msi RS480 onboard graphic is far more superior that unichrome graphic in msi k8s-mx and with PCI Express support you will have the chance to upgrade to a better graphic card in future....
