AMD Announces "FireStream" Chip

In a significant development, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced launching a high performance chip that applies 'Parallelism', a common graphics processors' technology -- to general purpose computing.

The new chip, named "FireStream", uses an advanced 55 nanometer manufacturing process, and a 'double precision' floating point technology for scientific-engineering calculations.

its AMD that knocked some sense into Intel.... its better that AMD also comes out with better stuff so that Intel doesnt become sluggish again ;)

But the price 2000$ is tooo much in the India market..most of the income generated for AMD is for its low end entry products which are popular in latin and other developing world.. Now AMD forget its own lesson..
