Advice: Warranty void on Rooting Android (Xperia)

Hi,

Need to know whether I would forfeit my warranty if I root my android device (Sony Xperia Ray) for avast! Anti-Theft Security.

It's preferable to do that so even in case of mobile being stolen and formatted, we would have the anti-theft running. Please elaborate as I'm not too much into this concept.

Enjoy~!

warranty will become void if you root by unlocking the boot loader...not because of rooting but because of unlocking boot loader..sony website tracks your IME and by unlocking boot loader your DRM keys are lost and warranty will become void...

if you have ICS running you can root without unlocking the boot loader and warranty wont get void..but xperia ray is not mentioned...may be there is some other method for xperia ray ...
