Acer has now dropped the price of the Aspire One netbook to just Rs. 17,499+taxes.S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India said, “Christmas is one of the biggest gifting seasons world over. With this latest initiative from Acer, the Aspire one can be an ideal gift during this festive season. We also believe that this would be a beachhead to the widespread adoption of mobile computing in India as consumers in a slowing economy look at ‘super value’ for money offerings. The Acer Aspire one, which has been a rage the world over in diverse geographies including America, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the APAC, is a revolutionary breakthrough by Acer in product design, functionality. We foresee this move on price point as a 'major inflection point' in the Indian computer

At some press release online, I saw the WinXp home preloaded will cost under 20000 + taxes. I just checked the price in chennai. Inclusive of 4% VAT the price comes to 20600 for the 120GB model and 21300 for the 160GB model.

NucleusKore said that his experience with Aspire One was horrible. Can someone confirm how it fares compared to the EEE PC ?

What about a comparison to the Lenovo Laptop with 2.0GHz Celeron, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, GMA 950, DVD-Combo Drive costing 20K including taxes.

I have heard that both Aspire One and EEE PC don't last more than a year. Lenovo website shows only two netbooks, none is having config similar to mentioned by you.
