Abnormal CPU Usage

i have been facing a strange problem with my desktop since couple of days. whenever i do refresh on desktop the CPU usage sour up to 100%, hence i have to restart my pc to bring it down in normal state. i could not figure out the problem. please help me.
my processor is AMD Athlon II X4 965, OS is Windows 7 32bit.

I think some processes using the cpu 100%.Check for the process in Windows Task Manager-->processess.And kill the processes that using 100%Cpu.Use software like ProcessExplorer for further details about specific process.

Are you using a shortcut to refresh the desktop? If yes, then what is the shortcut?

^^CPU usage also increase drastically in case of virus,trojans in your PC..
Scan 1st thru the updated Antivirus s/w..

About 90% of the time, this is some program that starts up with your computer and there's a high chance it is some malware/virus/Trojan/etc. You most probably got this from an infected pen-drive.

and also check for a process called REGVSR.exe which is one of most common virus that keeps CPU usage at max.
