Hai..

i used an Intex ps2 Optical scroll mouse. one day, when i
started my computer up in Windows XP, the mouse pointer jumped
from one place to the other automatically and right clicked(opened
the menus) and i couldnt control my mouse. so, i restarted the
computer again and this behaviour continued once again. i started
in Windows 98 and since then, i got the message that the ps2 mouse
is not being detected. i reinstalled the mouse drivers but the
mouse was not detected in either operating system. i tried connecting
other ps2 mice and they worked. any how, i replaced the mouse with
a samsung optical ps2 mouse. my problem is,. why did this happen?
is it because of any virus/spyware? if so, the other mice worked.

i still got a problem with my current mouse (Samsung). now, my
pointer jumps suddenly to random positions whenever i move the
mouse suddenly after keeping it at a position. when i scroll the
wheel in one direction, the effect comes in the opposite and then
restores as if confused. moreover, occassionally the pointer
shivers though i hold it still or even when i donot touch
it. what could be the cause?

Well I bought a Logitech optical mouse recently and expereienced the jumping mouse pointer problem. Well i googled it and found 2 main causes for this to occur.

One is electromagnetic disturbance. Place your mouse away from your speakers and monitor. (Didnt work for me )

Other is check your mosue pad. Is it white or light coloured ? Get a dark mouse pad with uniform colour. It worked for me. The optical mouse sees its own image when you use white or light coloured pad.
