My nephew needs a new system and requested my help to finalize the build.
Below is the questionnaire.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans:
  • Gaming
  • Browsing
  • Coding
  • Photoshop/Animation
  • Watching HD movies

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: 45K+1K (max)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 10/11

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: SSD: 500 GB, HDD: 1TB (2 TB if budget permits)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Already have one 22" Full HD

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Monitor, keyboard, mouse, GPU (will add later)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: immediately

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Noida. Buying locally

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:
Thinking on below components

Get this laptop which will be like 25% inferior but is a laptop, so portable:

Or this desktop:
CPU - Intel i5 12400 - 17k

Thanks for the config. However I will have to include atleast 1TB HDD in this budget. So will have to cut somewhere. That is the reason I was planning for H610 motherboard. Does B660 motherboard worth the extra money? I mean will it be a big problem if I go for H610 motherboard?

X10 motherboards are said to be good enough for Non K i5 processors, however, X60 motherboards handle loads better wrt temps and almost always outlast cheaper motherboards, so i prefer recommending them unless budget is really tight.

I guess you can go with the H610 since then you also get to add a 1TB HDD and the 45k limit is also maintained. Higher end motherboards isn't essential, its just supposed to be an additional safeguard.

I'm not sure if H610's VRMs can sustain i5 12400 at full load when it draws 80W. Also, B660 has 4x RAM slots, 2x M.2 NVMe slots (both Gen4 vs 1 Gen3 in H610) & XMP support. Among these 4x RAM slots + better VRMs are the most important ones for the use cases mentioned. Animation can be pretty CPU & RAM intensive. I have been able to saturate 16GB RAM with Photoshop myself with just a browser open at background.

Decide for yourself, do some research.
