New Delhi: A Pakistani court on Friday declared 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's detention illegal. The court ordered his release.

The notifications which were issued by Islamabad's District Administration were termed as null and void by Justice Noorul Haq in the morning, Express News reported.

Lakhvi, a senior figure of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba, is accused of being involved in planning, financing and executing the Mumbai attacks in 2008.

UPDATE: in-out-in game again!
the maniac has been thrown back into the jail!

ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI: A defence lawyer said on Saturday Pakistan has again detained LeT terrorist and Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi for one month after a court ordered his release.

The lawyer Rizwan Abbasi said the detention order for Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was issued on Saturday.

The development came a day after a court cancelled an earlier order under which Lakhvi was detained for three months in December.

Friday's court order drew criticism from India.

An "outraged" India on Friday summoned the Pakistan high commissioner in New Delhi to lodge a strong protest against a Pakistani court order to release LeT terrorist and Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and said freeing him will pose a threat which "cannot be ignored".

The officiating foreign secretary Anil Wadhwa summoned Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit to South Block and conveyed India's unhappiness over the order in strong words. Wadhwa is officiating as the foreign secretary in the absence of S Jaishankar, who is travelling with the Prime Minister.

Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi to remain in jail - The Times of India

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said that Pakistani authorities were restraining 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi in jail due to the efforts of a strong Central Government in India.

"We learnt a day ago that Lakhvi was to be released due to a court order in Pakistan. The Indian Government, the MEA in fact called for the Pakistani envoy Abdul Basit and had a strong message conveyed to Pakistan through Basit that India is absolutely upset and India is not going to take this and if Lakhvi was released then it would affect Indo-Pak relations and because of this strong message we get the news that Pakistan is restraining Lakhvi in jail," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

India had on Friday conveyed its outrage over Lakhvi's release orders by the Islamabad High Court, saying that if released, the designated international terrorist would pose a threat that cannot be ignored. "This goes against Pakistan's professed commitment to combat terrorism, including its recently stated policy of not differentiating amongst terrorists," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said.
The Islamabad High Court had on Friday declared Lakhvi's detention as 'illegal' and ordered his release, which led to the summoning of Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit by Indian authorities.

This the power of India :-D.
Well good news is that the creep is finally back inside.

:doublethumb:
but sadly, we're tied & not that powerful in our own internal matters.

meanwhile, jail authorities in pakistan are told to have refused to leave the terrorist, citing that they had just received a 'fax' of the court-order from the counsel of lakhvi, and not a 'written order'. yeah, so much love for law & rules, we know!
perhaps its a face-saving trick?!

But if we have a desirable result it is half the battle won.
