Yes, Lenovo now being the owner of Motorola Mobility will provide after sales. But I wonder whether Moto G will get all upgrades since its not a Google product anymore

Well since u dont want to look at Indian brands u can check out the following
1. Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro
2. LG L 90 ( if u can get in the 15k range )
3. Moto G
4. Lumia 720
5.Lumia 630.( Windows Phone 8.1)
.
--If the priorities are customisation, playing games, and if u use a lot of non productivity apps then u may go in for an android phone.
--If the priorities are better phone user interface, security ,camera, and robust build go for Nokia. After sales is great as always.
--Moto G has somewhat a poor camera among all the phones, the Google brand tag is lost, and no expandable memory cripples it, but it offers great hardware and Kitkat though its not clear whether an upgrade to Lollipop is assured or not.
--All Windows 8 phone get a assured updates for 3 years from Microsoft.
-- If u are a heavy app user then dont thnk twice, Go for an android one...

She won't play much games other than temple run like.
That won't be a problem for her. 11-12 gb will be enough for her song collection and few apps/photos. Currently even I haven't bought any memory card for my 16gb s3 so I am sure this won't be a problem for her.then go for the Moto G without any second thoughts. The storage problem can be solved using a OTG Pen Drive or a data cable using which u can connect a pen drive directly to the mobile.
Samsung and LG are a big No from her side as she didn't like their design. (She has used my S3 and she hates it )
So she'll probably decide between Moto G and Lumia 720.
